Christine contacted me on ModelMayhem about a shoot when she was still in Charlotte, North Carolina, planning her trip to LA. Christine is building up a portfolio for her professional modeling career. We got along very well, and she was friendly and easy to work with. She looks confident in front of the camera and takes direction well. It was a true pleasure to work with Christine, her friend, Connie, and Courtney, who was our MUA that day. We were shooting around Downtown LA on Grand Ave during the sunset time. We started at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and spent a lot of time there shooting at every possible corner. Then we gradually moved down the street towards the financial district. Securities there did not like joking around when they saw a light stand that I used. Even though it was not on the ground, they asked us to find an another place to take pictures. As one of securities said: "You guys look too professional" :) Seriously?!
Technical side of the shoot:
At the Disney Hall in the garden area they did not allow light stands on the floor so I was bouncing my flash off of those mirrored walls. But later I put my light stand with a bare flash on the floor anyway. No one jumped on us like those in the financial district. I wanted to be portable and quick with the setup an umbrella was not used. Only bare flash on a light stand throughout the shoot. I gelled it with full CTO from time to time to experiment tones later on in post-processing. It was fun :)
